Federal Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar while talking to media on Thursday said that we are well aware that load shedding has also increased due to high heat across the country. He further said that K Electric has been provided 200 MW more power to save the people of Karachi from power cuts.
He further using his official account and tweet that the only electricity distributor in the city of lights is already getting 350 MW of additional power to facilitate the citizens of Karachi and save them from load shedding. The power supply to K Electric has been increased by 200 MW in the national grid.
As June began to heat up, K Electric announced an increase in load shedding to 11 hours, and an unannounced power outage caused more trouble to olds and children especially.
According to further information, the duration of load shedding has increased from 11 hours in the worst affected areas, while those areas which are exempted from load shedding are also facing power outage for six hours a day. Sources said that rising temperatures have pushed the demand for electricity in Port City above 3300 MW while the gap between supply and demand has reached 700 MW which has led to increasing in load shedding.
